The Grind - (12-15-2015) Crocheted Memories

My grandmother chose deep, aged-wine colors and crocheted her “squares” as diamonds .  .  . yes, she diagonally parked her stitchery, which inspires me to love her nonconformist aesthetics all the more .  .  !

  1. Tis the season for snuggling under afghans made with love by our mothers and grandmothers. Even though I live in FL where the temps rarely dip low enough to need their warmth, I often go to my stash of beauties, pull one or two down from the shelf, and inhale the love between the stitches, embedded there by these makers: my mom, my stepmom, a good friend, and my mother-in-law. Your dreamy naptime sounds perfect, jayni!

    • How precious, Debra, that you also share the stitchery connection with your lineage of mother wisdom – even in the semi-tropics of Florida!! I admire you for protecting those magical loops of wool in the heart of humidity. May you keep breathing in the wisdom of the elders. They have such subtle, yet profound, gifts to pass on to us!
